Council Meeting Process:
The City Council meets Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 10:00 A.M. in the John Ferraro Council Chambers (Room 340) at the Los Angeles City Hall. The City Council meeting agendas contain a brief general description of all items to be considered at the meetings. All past, present, and upcoming Council agendas are available below and in the meeting room on the day of the meeting.
10 out of 15 members of the Council (two-thirds) constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. The Council may consider an item not listed on the agenda only if it is determined by a two-thirds (10) vote that the need for action arose after the posting of an agenda. Some items on the agenda may be approved without any discussion in Council due to public comment already taken prior during the committee process, however, any item may be called "special" by a Councilmember for any amendments, comments, or questions.
Council Meeting Public Comment Process:
The Los Angeles City Council will take public comment in-person in the Council chamber and via teleconference for its Council meetings.
Members of the public who wish to offer public comment to the Council in person should register their intent to speak at the speaker kiosk located inside and outside the Council chambers, as well as throughout the building. The kiosk will gather the speaker's name and the list of agenda items they wish to discuss. The registered list of speakers of all in-person speakers will be pooled together to be selected to speak. If there is a large volume of registered speakers to accommodate in one day, a randomizer will be used to provide equal opportunity in selecting the order of speakers.
The City Council will take public comment from members of the public in the Council chamber and also by teleconference. Members of the public who wish to offer public comment to the Council via teleconference should call, toll-free, 833 435 1820 and use Meeting ID No. 165 917 6148 and then press #. Press # again when prompted for participant ID. Once Council enters the public comment portion of the meeting, press *9 to request to speak. When it is your turn to speak, an automated prompt will ask you to press *6 to unmute.
