Marco Antonio "ChiChi" Navarro

"ChiChi (any/ChiChi), also known as ChiChi Charlas, is a queer, gender‑expansive Mexican‑American community advocate, cultural strategist, and Los Angeles City and County Commissioner. ChiChi currently serves as the Vice Chair of the City of Los Angeles Transgender Advisory Council and as the Co‑Chair of the Transgender Caucus for the Los Angeles County Commission on HIV, where they help elevate community‑informed strategies to strengthen HIV prevention, sexual health education, and access to affirming care.

Their advocacy spans the full spectrum of health determinants, including housing stability, access to healthy and nutritious food, mental health support, and the broader social conditions that shape community wellbeing. As someone who openly navigates anxiety, ChiChi is a strong advocate for mental health access and the destigmatization of seeking care.

Through ChiChi Charlas, their community education and storytelling platform, ChiChi spotlights a wide range of topics, including sexual health, LGBTQ+ cultural competency, community care, and the lived experiences of queer and trans communities. As an experienced event host and LGBTQ+ cultural competency trainer, ChiChi works with LGBTQ+‑led and LGBTQ+‑serving organizations, as well as colleges, private businesses, and community‑based organizations to strengthen inclusive practices and reduce health disparities.

ChiChi’s work is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves access to healthcare, regardless of gender, pre‑existing conditions, immigration status, or socioeconomic background. Their approach reflects a commitment to prevention, equity, and ensuring that Los Angeles communities most impacted by inequities are seen, heard, and resourced."
